What is the difference between Aromatherapy and Aromachology?

Aromatherapy only uses essential oils of plants.  Aromatherapy products actually have subtle effects on the mind, emotions and even the body that help you perk up, relax or feel better.

Aromachology can include synthetic fragrances as well as essential oils although not in enough quantities to create the same effects as aromatherapy.  Aromachology is all about psychology, which is why you may feel comforted smelling the perfume your mother used to wear or saddened at the scent of your late grandfather's pipe tobacco.
